Eliminate Seasonal Hair Loss and Shedding

When the seasons change, so do our bodies.  Skin issues such as dry skin, itchy scalp, and hair loss can occur.  To combat these we've put a list together of tips to slow down and stop the shedding.

Start a Food Journal

If your skin is reacting in a negative way or your hair is feeling dry or weak look at your recent food cycle. I always recommend carrying around a food journal. Things such as spices or certain ingredients in food can trigger a skin reaction. Start with a two week food journal and write down everything you're consuming. If you feel a change in skin or a negative effect after a certain food locate it and eliminate it from your diet. Nutrition is a essential part of our existence, treat every meal like it's a part of a machine.  How is this food going to make me better. The results will shock you.

Stop Using Chemicals!

If your hair is feeling weak or damaged then take a look at your hair products. For a daily, all-natural deep cleansing shampoo clinically formulated to reduce inflammation and buildup promoting a healthy ph balance use a plant-based Shampoo. When using Shampoos always try to avoid the following ingredients.

1. Ammonium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate - These are both harsh detergents.

2. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate - This detergent breaks down hair protein and stops healthy hair growth.

3. Sodium Chloride - Table salt, can cause dry and itchy scalp. hair loss may follow.

4. Polyethelyne Glycol - Used as a thickening agent, it strips hair and scalp of moisture.

5. Parabens - These chemicals are used to prolong shelf life.  They irritate the skin leaving an unhealthy scalp. They can also affect hormonal balance.

6. Propylene Glycol - Known to be in antifreeze.  Yes, that antifreeze you put in your car.  Enough said.

7. Formaldehyde - A strong smelling gas that's sometimes used in shampoos has been associated with hair loss.

8. Diethanolamine (DEA) and Triethanolamine (TEA) - These two can cause an allergic reaction and destroys keratin in your hair leaving you with a dry and flaky scalp.

Detox

Every day we are exposed to a variety of environmental chemicals and toxins that can be absorbed into the body via breathing, eating, drinking and more. In addition, lifestyle choices sometimes include smoking, alcohol, junk food and artificial sweeteners, just to name a few — all increasing the toxic load on our bodies. There are several ways to detox. Some individuals choose to fast for a few days, allowing the organs to rest, while others prefer a one- to two-week program in which they adhere to a restricted diet, consuming only natural fruits, vegetables and, occasionally, light proteins. In most detoxification programs, liver-stimulating herbs such as dandelion are taken along with herbal supplements intended to promote elimination through the kidneys, intestines and skin. Improved circulation is encouraged with lymphatic exercise and dry skin brushing.
